A Reflection on my IBDP Journey through CAS Experience
International Baccalaureate diploma program graduate Jennifer Osteen has reflected on her IBDP journey by sharing her CAS (creativity, activity, and service) experience. Jennifer has shared her whole experience from the beginning to graduation in this IBDP graduate series on Blen and reflected on how this journey charmed her life and uplifted her to accomplish her career goals.
When and How I started my IBDP Journey?
I started my IBDP journey in 2018, recalling an incident from HL year as a business and management student; one of our IBDP tutors always briefed us on the importance and the influence of a stakeholder in any business headway or decision. When I was a diploma program student, I used to consider how I can utilize my knowledge to make a good impact on stakeholders in the local community. Later after the completion of my diploma program, I pursued my bachelor's in business and management with economics and accounting as a major intending to jump into the corporate world with business skills and knowledge. During my journey as an IBDP student, I acquired many technical skills which can be implemented in the business world to make a progression.
My blessed IBDP Journey reflection
Honestly, I consider myself very lucky and am grateful that I was able to secure a job straight after the completion of my university program. Unlike, some other graduates who suffer to find employment. All the credits go to my IBDP journey that taught me all the fundamental skills such as resilience, hard work, and perseverance to accomplish my objectives. With the same determination, I kept on looking for jobs until I secured one. Initially, I started as a management trainee in a firm. After completing my trainee program, I was placed in the control department of a bank. To share my work experience working in this role, I got the opportunity to employ my academic qualifications and skills which I gained through CAS experience in the IB diploma program student. Being challenged with assignments during the IB journey prepared me well for the completion and achievement of my professional tasks.
My IBDP experience in a few words
In conclusion, IB has shown me a path to take ownership of my goals. Though I made mistakes, I stumbled and failed as well. But, what is really important is to accept those failures and learn from them. When you start learning from your mistakes, no one can stop you to achieve your goals. Taking the IBDP journey has been a worthwhile experience for me as a whole.
