Overview: What are the learning outcomes for your CAS?

In order to complete the CAS requirement for the IB Diploma Program, you often need to demonstrate attainment of these seven learning outcomes over an 18-month dedicated period.

You need to build the essential abilities, traits, and understandings to attain the seven CAS learning objectives through meaningful and purposeful CAS activities. It is a mandatory requirement to demonstrate that you have achieved each learning outcome at least once in your CAS portfolio based on a mutually agreed proof of the activity.

1. Identify your own strengths and develop areas for growth

You can perceive yourself as people with a range of abilities and skills, some of which are more developed than others.

2. Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

A new challenge could be a fresh experience or an extension of an old one. The newly learned or expanded talents might be demonstrated through new experiences or enhanced knowledge in an existing area.

3. Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

You can describe the steps involved in planning a CAS experience or sequence of CAS experiences, from conceiving a concept to putting it into action. This can be done with the help of others. You need to demonstrate your understanding and awareness by building on previous experiences or initiating a new idea or Process.

4. Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

You need to participate in CAS on a regular basis and actively.

5. Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

As a result of their CAS experiences, you should be able to recognize, exhibit, and critically debate the benefits and obstacles of collaboration.

6. Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

You should be able to recognize and exhibit your grasp of global challenges, make responsible decisions, and gain relevant experience in response to the issue on a local, national, or international level.

7. Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

In organizing and carrying out CAS events, you should be able to demonstrate knowledge of the consequences of your decisions and experiences.

It is essential for you to provide evidence to demonstrate the achievement of the CAS learning outcomes during the CAS interviews.
