Predicted Topics in HL:

  • Topic 2: Mechanics

  • Topics 4 & 9: Waves

  • Topic 5: Electricity and Magnetism

  • Topic 10: Fields

  • Topic 12: Quantum and Nuclear Physics

Word of Advice:

  • In Paper 1, you will be tested on each topic, with a particular emphasis on the frequently investigated topics listed above.

  • You can annotate your Question booklet without concern, as it will not be evaluated.

  • Pay close attention to decimal places and powers, as they can often provide hints for eliminating incorrect answers.

  • If you find yourself stuck, consult the related formula in the booklet.

  • Be mindful of time, as you have only 1.5 minutes per question.

  • Don't waste too much time struggling with a question. It's okay to skip it and return to it later.

  • Make the most of the opportunity and attempt all questions. Remember, there is no penalty for incorrect answers.

IBDP Physics Paper 2 Strategy:

  • DP Physics SL has 5-6 extended response questions to be solved in 75 Minutes and DP Physics HL has 7-8 extended response questions to be solved in 135 Minutes

  • This time calculator is allowed and IBDP Physics Data Booklet is there for you.

  • It’s challenging and be prepared probably you won’t finish it.

  • Good news is Grade Boundaries are usually very low. Maybe a 7 for 63% in SL and 59% in HL.

Predicted Topics in SL:

  • Topic 2: Mechanics

  • Topic 4: Waves

  • Topic 5: Electricity and Magnetism

  • Topic 6: Circular Motion and Gravitation

Predicted Topics in HL:

  • Topic 2: Mechanics

  • Topics 4 & 9: Waves

  • Topic 7: Atomic, Nuclear and Particle Physics

  • Topic 11: Electromagnetic Induction

  • Topic 12: Quantum and Nuclear Physics

  • Topic 8: Energy Production

Word of Advice:

  • Focus on your strengths within the frequently investigated topics listed above.

  • Use the 5-minute Reading Time to identify and select the questions you feel most confident about.

  • Identify the relevant topics and refer to the corresponding page in your data booklet.

  • Check for relevant information in previous parts of the question before attempting to answer.

  • Follow the command words given in the IBDP to answer appropriately.

  • When planning your answers, take note of the allocated marks for each question.

  • Use the 'Ans' button on your calculator instead of manually rounding off intermediate steps.

  • Pay attention to the units on the graph axes, as you may need to calculate the gradient or area of the graph.

IBDP Physics Paper 3 Strategy:

Facts:

  • Paper 3 is returning after COVID alteration.

  • It has 2 generic questions then DP Physics SL has 1-2 option specific extended response questions to be solved in 60 Minutes and DP Physics HL has 2-3 extended response questions to be solved in 75 Minutes

  • This time calculator is allowed and IBDP Physics Data Bookletis there for you.

Word of Advice:

  • You need to ensure that you have an OPTION topic ready to respond to in Paper 3.

  • Additionally, you should have a strong grasp of Topic 1: Measurements and Uncertainties, as a significant portion of Paper 3 is dedicated to this topic and its practical applications.

  • Pay attention to the units on the graph axes, as you may need to calculate the gradient or area of the graph.
