Straight tips from IB grad: "Aaron Jones" on fixing a sound revision schedule for exams preps

Hello, my name is Aaron Jones, I belong from Houston, Texas and I am an IBDP Graduate batch 2018.

I took IB Chemistry Course at a higher level in my IB. Generally, the course is split into 2 test portions Paper 1 Exam (MCQ Style questions) and Paper 2 Exam (Short answer type questions).

For each portion, you have to prepare well to obtain a good grade. A plus point is that normally the exams are asked infrequently so you will have ample time to hit the books before the actual exam. Well, it also depends upon on how adequately you can manage to prepare and revise for the exam. In my case, I had 3 weeks to study and revise and I was just baffled as you on how well I can make good use of my time?

Luckily, I got to know about “Blen” which saved my bacon.

So, now that I have earned my IB diploma so in courtesy I thought to share the revision recipe of mine with you all that you can employ for your exams preps and revision.

Start with creating a Schedule

Set goals. Go through the practice test on “Blen” to have an understanding of paper pattern and to determine your imperfections so you can fix them. While you're a revising a certain topic you have to put all your center on the topic but allot some time to go through the past papers. It is an excellent practice to bookmark those critical key concepts and questions for last minute revision as they raise your chances of scoring high.

Practice grasping concepts through “Blen”! Leave those long lengthy text book notes, adopt crispy and concrete key concepts on Blen.

Long Answer Questions

In paper 2, you are required to long answers explaining any phenomena or attempt a calculation to get the result. I believe only practicing these questions alongside the key concepts on “Blen” has embedded these in my head.
I prepared for this part by creating a graph and a table by linking exam strategies with my ideas that can be implemented.
My recipe is "practice as many questions or quizzes or test series as you can and understand the concept behind the same. With  Blen’s solutions of every question embed that in your permanent memory"

My Revision Schedule

Sunday: Prepare topics and bookmark concept notes (3 Hours)
Monday: Revise concept notes (2 Hours)
Tuesday: Take some sub-topic Practice Test (2 Hours)
Wednesday: Analyze your mistakes and take notes (3 Hours)
Thursday: Revise what you learned (2 Hours)
Friday: Practice Full Topic Test (2 Hours)
Saturday: Practice and test yourself (2 Hours)

Repeat the schedule every week.

You can go with setting your own schedule as long as you are doing things properly and productively.
