Choose the Right Approach

IB Psychology Paper 1, Section B requires selecting the right approach to answer the essay question from the three perspectives: cognitive, biological, and sociocultural. The choice of approach depends on the question, for instance, memory questions are best answered using the cognitive approach, while questions about behavior change require the sociocultural perspective. The approach is chosen based on the question prepared for SAQs, except for additional terms like agonists or antagonists, covered in SAQs only. It's important to remember that the approach may serve as a basis for extension while selecting a study.

Acquire the Skill of Critical Thinking!

It emphasizes critical thinking to evaluate the validity of arguments and claims. This involves identifying strengths and weaknesses of an idea, considering evidence for and against it, and presenting well-developed counterarguments. For instance, to evaluate the claim that left-handed people are more creative, one should look at studies showing a correlation between handedness and creativity and provide alternative explanations or resolutions to the study. Additionally, one must go beyond simple statements and explain the limitations of the study, evaluate the explanation of the theory, and provide an alternative option to strengthen critical thinking skills.

Blen wishes you Good Luck with your upcoming May 23 IBDP Examinations!!
